Vacation Recap: The Digs

IMG_4990

Hola!
It's been a hot minute since I've posted a blog entry, but I'm coming back at you with a post containing lots of jealousy inducing photos. I recently took a much needed week long vacation to Mexico. It was everything I needed in a vacation: sun, warmth, boozy drinks, hammocks, massages, sailing, guacamole, and yoga (to name a few!). Today I am showing you a little bit of where I laid my head down every night (Spoiler: it was like falling into a cloud every night I got into bed).

Revived

Hello. I am still alive.

Anyway, I took a month-ish away to let life take it's course and allow myself to be taken to a happier place. It took some ups and downs, but life is good right now, and for that I am thankful. If it only took two months, that's not bad. I'm not going to re hash details, but a lot of it had to do with KC, and his reintegration back at home. It was a tough situation to be faced with when the one you love and haven't seen in over half a year would rather be alone, and away from you when all you want to do is love on them. There were some dark days, but I'm happy to say that things seem to have leveled out and we are slowly floating back into what we used to be. I don't know what the future holds, but I've come to realize that I can't control it, and I just need to enjoy the time we spend together now. This place feels good though.

Within all of that I still managed to live life, and do some fun things. It's summer in Seattle, and I have to soak this weather up while I can. There is no time to miss out on the sun here because you'll have to wait at least nine more months before it comes back.

Here's what I've been up to:

Little Miss Matilda and myself moved into a brand 'spankin new apartment! This thing has all the bells and whistles, and it has been so much fun decorating my first place on my own since becoming a real "big kid"
Celebrated the fourth of July on an awesome yacht in the middle of Lake Union. If you haven't done this before. Do it. You need to make friends with people who have boats. It worked for me.

BdayCollage

I celebrated another year of being alive. It was the first year in the last few where I've planned a real party. It was so fun to have all my friends together on my roof basking in the sun while enjoying BBQ and sangria.

I've gotten some quality time in with KC. I still get so giddy when I get to hang out with him. I celebrated other friend's birthdays with tea parties, croquet and large zucchinis.

It has been a good summer thus far.

It's (kinda) spring, Seattle!

I can't even believe it, but I am doing one of my favorite things right now: sitting on my balcony in the sun..at 6:30 in the evening! This sort of occurrence usually doesn't happen until at least late May or June. We have had two weekends of sun in the emerald city, and I feel so lucky. Everyone comes out of their holes and infiltrates the parks, sidewalks, and outdoor dining places in this city. We Seattleites LOVE the sun.

The time change is still messing with my head a bit, but it's making me more motivated to get out and run, which I love. I'm trying to get back into running more/working out more often and I have been highly successful this last week.

This weekend I headed north to attend a surprise 60th birthday party for one of my oldest friend's mother. It was great, she had no idea! She's usually pretty on top of these things so we thought she might have hacked into one of her childrens emails and discovered the plans :-) The party was great, but I seriously struggled with not being able to eat all the yummy food that was offered. Especially the chocolate cake. I was good though, and ate only veggies and almonds. Tomorow I go see my nutritionist so I plan on doing  another post about the elimination diet. I'm on week three which means I start introducing foods back next week.

Other than that, my weekend was pretty low key, as usual. I got laundry done, went running, hung with my mom, went for a walk with my mom and her dog, and scored some awesome dark green skinny Hudsons! I was inspired by Melissa in her cutsy jeans, and then I saw Tara wearing 'em too, and I suddenly fell in love with the color. I swung by the rack and got lucky! Paired with my new combat boots, I think it's a pretty good look!
